This laptop is how lightweight and compact it is—perfect for carrying around. The battery life is impressive, lasting several hours on a single charge. It has a sleek, stylish design that looks great, and despite its budget-friendly price, it doesn’t feel cheap at all. Performance-wise, it functions and processes pretty quickly for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming movies, and working on documents. Like all laptops you do have to spend a little time on setting it all up to go but this was a very easy process as everything was led by the computers prompt. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly laptop that’s portable, reliable, and stylish, the HP Stream 14" is a solid choice. I think its fabulous value for money.

I wanted to get a basic laptop to be able to do personal stuff on in preference to using my work laptop or the steam-driven 2016-vintage tower unit that I was still harbouring in a cupboard in my home office. Although the laptop is absolutely fine for basic use (and has the added bonus of a 12-month free subscription to M365), it’s not as quick as a more expensive model due to the use of a basic Celeron processors - plus there are a couple of serious compromises that you ought to know about if you’re hoping to get a laptop that you can chop and change with a more powerful, professional one. The first is the memory - it only has a 128gb SSD, and while I thought that would be ample, it doesn’t come close to saving all my accumulated photos over the years. I can live with this though, by keeping them on an external hard drive. The second (and more irksome) compromise is that although it has a USB-C port, this doesn’t power the laptop, nor does it recognise the two external monitors that I have plugged into a hub for my work laptop. Whilst I can still use a second monitor with it, by unplugging the HDMI lead for one of my monitors from the hub and into the laptop, and plug the power adapter into the laptop as well, it’s not the smooth swap-out process between my work and personal laptops that I was hoping for. Of course, these are definitely First World Problems and I know that you get what you pay for - I could have had the same functionality with a more expensive model, but I only wanted it for the basics. Nevertheless I did want to write this review so that others would know that if you’re looking for the same ability to switch machines seamlessly, you’ll need to go a little bit higher up the price range.

Great budget laptop. I see a lot of negative reviews for this, but I think that's because people are expecting a lot more bang for they're buck. At this price you cannot expect a lot! I bought this for doing online courses and it works perfectly for that, with the free 365 use for a year is brilliant. Yes sometimes you have to wait a few seconds for some things to open but it's not unexpected at this price. It plays angry birds very well if u need some distraction. My only disappointment is the web cam quality, from the inbuilt camera it's very poor but streaming from my phone is brilliant so it's not terminal. Screen is also good and clear enough for me Touchpad is sensitive with good spacing between the keys Set up was easy with not too many updates, but to make sure u are completely up to date u need to go into settings and manually update a few bits but it's very easy. It's very thin and light and boots up and shuts down quickly. All in all I like it, does light tasks easily and the battery lasts a good few hours too. Don't expect too much for the price and u won't go wrong.

I’ve had this laptop for less than 12 hours, and I’m already packing it up to return. I gave it a fair shot, but even with just basic tasks like watching a YouTube video or browsing the web, it constantly lagged, froze, or stuttered. Within a couple of hours, it became clear that this device simply isn’t built for even light everyday use. The system feels overwhelmed just opening a browser tab. I wasn’t expecting high-end performance at this price, but I was expecting it to handle video playback and basic tasks without grinding to a halt. Extremely disappointed — not worth the hassle.

I've been using the HP Stream 14" Laptop since November 2024, and I have to say, it’s a fantastic little device for the price! Right now, I’m actually writing this review on it, and it’s handling everything smoothly. One of the best things about this laptop is how lightweight and compact it is—perfect for carrying around. The battery life is impressive, lasting hours on a single charge, which means I don’t have to stress about finding an outlet during the day. It has a sleek, stylish design that looks great, and despite its budget-friendly price, it doesn’t feel cheap. Performance-wise, it zips along pretty quickly for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming movies, and working on documents. While it’s not the fastest laptop out there, it works a treat for programs and apps that don’t demand too much memory. Overall, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly laptop that’s portable, reliable, and stylish, the HP Stream 14" is a solid choice. Pretty good value for money!
